Photography locations for 2023’s ‘Ring of Fire’ solar eclipse
Where in North America to go to see and photograph the annular solar eclipse
What happens on October 14, 2023 is sure to attract the attention of photographers of all kinds. Not only does an annular solar eclipse occur that day – also called a ‘Ring of Fire’ – but it happens in some of the most picturesque regions of the US.
The 125-mile-wide path of annularity begins in Oregon on the US West Coast, before moving southeast across California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas before it exits the US in the late morning.
It crosses Monument Valley (which will be closed during the eclipse, as will the Four Corners Monument) and the red rocks of the Four Corners region, dozens of US National Parks, State Parks, and National Monuments – many of them International Dark Sky Parks.
